Ouch … what to do if you break a front tooth
Don’t despair, we have several ways to repair or replace a broken tooth
If you suffer an accident in which you break a front tooth, here’s what you should do. Your first action should be to make an urgent appointment to see your dentist. If you are already a patient at Carisbrook Dental, or if you would like to consult us about your broken tooth then making an appointment couldn’t be easier. You can phone us on 0161 766 4906 or you can contact us by completing the online form that is on our website. If you are a new patient then we provide a FREE CONSULTATION with no strings or obligations. The thing is though: you must do this as soon as possible. The sooner we can assess the damage the better are your chances of a swift and successful outcome.
After our expert, highly-qualified dental staff have inspected the broken tooth, and depending on the extent of the damage, they will be able to advise and recommend the best course of action.
We have a number of ways of repairing or replacing a broken tooth, but which option is best for you is totally dependent on just how great the damage to the tooth is.
Repair option 1: White fillings. If the extent of the damage permits, then it is highly possible that we can repair your tooth with a custom-made white filling created to match the shade and appearance of your surrounding teeth. We can skillfully use this strong composite to build up and restore the shape and size of your broken tooth so that it blends in well with its neighbouring teeth. This is a firm, natural-looking, long-lasting repair that allows you to eat and socialise as normal.
Repair option 2: a Crown or Veneer. If there is more damage, then a crown may be needed which can be made to match your broken tooth. As the name suggests a custom-made crown fits snugly over the damaged tooth to match your surrounding teeth. If we use a veneer, made from tooth-coloured porcelain, it is individually manufactured to fit onto the damaged tooth so that it not only looks perfectly natural, you will be able to eat and socialise with confidence.
On the other hand, if the broken tooth is beyond repair and has to be extracted, then don’t worry because we also have ways to effect a perfect replacement. Dental Implants are a permanent substitute for missing teeth. Firstly we fix a titanium implant into your gum and then we attach a customised replacement tooth that is tailor-made to exactly match the colour, size and shape of your natural teeth. Dental Implants are a permanent, fully-proven solution.
Other options to replace the broken tooth include Dentures and Bridges. If the damage is restricted to just a single tooth, or even a number of teeth, then we can custom-make the denture so that the replacement looks perfectly natural.
Dental Bridges are fixed to your adjoining teeth so that the replacement is secure and worry-free. People will never realise that you have a replacement tooth and you can dine out with total confidence.
So there you are; breaking a tooth doesn’t mean you have to be left with an unsightly gap. Thanks to the skills and technology available at Carisbrook we can restore your looks, preserve your self-confidence, enable you to eat and socialise without worries … and best of all we can help you to face the future with a smile.
