The one NYR you really should keep
A good dental hygiene routine is the best resolution you can makeHave you made any New Year’s resolutions? Have you broken any yet? If out of all your good intentions, pledges and your resolutions for 2019 you keep only one… then it should be to stick to a good dental hygiene routine. Looking after your teeth and the health of your mouth will most definitely pay dividends, not just throughout this year, but for years and years to come. With a good dental hygiene discipline you will find that your teeth and gums are much healthier. Your breath will smell sweeter. Your food will taste better. Your smile will be more attractive. In fact a good dental hygiene routine will mean your self-confidence will grow and you really will begin to feel better all round.Unlike some New Year’s resolutions this one is not difficult to stick to. A good dental hygiene routine only takes a few minutes of your time every day, but the dividends it brings will be immense. Here is all you need to do if you want to stick to your good dental hygiene resolution.1. Clean your teeth twice a day.You should do this first thing in the morning as soon as you get out of bed and then again last thing at night before you go to bed. As part of our cleaning advice we recommend that you should choose a medium (not hard) bristle brush, use fluoride toothpaste and spend at least two minutes to brush every part of your teeth. In addition we recommend that you should floss regularly and occasionally rinse your mouth with an antiseptic mouthwash. This simple daily good dental hygiene routine will definitely help you to avoid the worries and pain of tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath.2. Take control of your diet.Another important part of your good dental hygiene resolution is to try and avoid eating too many sweets, sweet stuffs and especially avoid drinking sweet, fizzy drinks. These are all major contributors to tooth decay. By reducing your consumption of sweet foods and drinks you’ll not only help yourself to look after the heath of your teeth and your mouth, it will be a major health boost for your entire body.3. Have regular dental check-ups.Our other very important piece of good dental hygiene advice is that you arrange regular check-ups with your dentist. A regular dental examination means your dentist can keep a close eye on the condition of your teeth and gums and if they do spot a potential problem they will be able to fix it quickly before it develops into a major and often painful condition. So there you are, sticking to a good dental hygiene routine as easy as ABC.
