The ‘secret’ behind a perfect smile
How invisible Invisalign braces secretly correct misaligned teethMention the word ‘orthodontics’ and most people will immediately think of children or young people wearing unsightly metal braces. But there are two important facts you should be aware of. One is that orthodontics is not just for young people and today more and more adults are seeking treatment from skilled orthodontists to correct the position of crooked or crowded teeth in order to produce a more attractive smile. And two, thanks to the massive developments in orthodontics’ treatment and technology, instead of those unsightly metal braces it is now possible to have very discreet treatment, such as Invisalign, in which the retainers are practically invisible. At Carisbrook our immensely skilled and experienced orthodontists team have a range of different treatments available to help straighten your teeth or to correct a bite problem. One of the most popular of these is Invisalign. Invisalign retainers (or aligners as they are often called) are practically invisible because they are totally transparent, meaning you can wear them without other people noticing them. What’s more, Invisalign retainers are also removable, so you can take them out to eat or drink and when you clean your teeth. It means Invisalign retainers are comfortable to wear, are very discrete, convenient to use and do not affect your dental hygiene routine. The Invisalign system is also unique in that our orthodontists, after a detailed discussion with you and a careful examination of your teeth, create an individually tailored programme of orthodontics treatment.Instead of just one retainer, the Inevisalign system consists of a number of slightly different ones that you change as your teeth are gently and gradually coaxed into the position they should be. Each new retainer is specially designed to move your teeth slightly further until they have straightened and sit in their correct position. The whole process (which cannot be hurried) takes on average between 9 and 15 months. During this time you will visit your orthodontist every 6 weeks or so in order that they can check on your progress and over the course of the treatment you will use between 18 and 30 Invisalign retainers that have each been specially made for you. (Different cases obviously vary.)You can also monitor your progress throughout the course of the treatment.Invisalign has its own computer system that enables you to access your virtual treatment plan and you will be able to see how your teeth have moved over time and how they will look once the treatment is finished.Invisalign is just one of the range of orthodontist treatments we can offer at Carisbrook, which include a number of ‘invisible’ retainer options. Out orthodontists will be happy to discuss them all with you. To maximise your new smile we can also provide a range of teeth whitening treatments to ensure you enjoy the most glamorous smile there is.
